Castor Oil
Castor oil comes from the castor bean (Ricinus communis) and has been used in Egyptian, Ayurvedic, African, and Caribbean healing traditions for thousands of years. Its uses were always tied to movement: of energy, of stagnation, of pain. It was used to induce labor, purge parasites, ease menstrual cramps, and support digestion. Not to suppress symptoms, but to unblock what was stuck.
Edgar Cayce, often called “the sleeping prophet,” mentioned castor oil packs in many of his healing readings. His patients were people suffering from ailments like arthritis, infertility, chronic fatigue, liver disease, lymphatic congestion.
And his advice was;
“Apply castor oil packs over the liver or abdomen, consistently, and healing will begin.”
What Does It Actually Do?
Modern science now catches up to what the mystics already knew 🙂
- Increases lymphatic flow – supporting detoxification
- Reduces inflammation – especially when used consistently
- Stimulates the liver – your body’s main detox organ
- Supports the uterus & ovaries – used for menstrual pain, cysts, and fertility
- Improves digestion & elimination – reducing bloating, constipation, and stagnation
What Do You Need?
You don’t need to buy expensive stuff. You need:
- Organic cold-pressed castor oil
- A piece of cotton flannel or wool cloth
- Plastic wrap or a towel
- A hot water bottle or heating pad
How to Use Castor Oil Packs?
- Pour oil onto the cloth until saturated.
- Place it over your liver (upper right abdomen), womb, or wherever you feel stagnation.
- Cover with plastic or a towel to avoid mess.
- Add heat.
- Lie down and rest for 45–60 minutes.
Do it 3–4 times a week for 4–6 weeks for deep results. Or use it cyclically, around your menstrual cycle or during seasonal detoxing.
Where to Apply
Your body knows the answer.
- Liver – for anger, fatigue, sluggish detox
- Lower abdomen/womb – for painful periods, endometriosis, grief stored in the body
- Thyroid/neck – for sluggish thyroid, voice repression
- Joints – for stiffness, emotional rigidity
- Intestines – for constipation, emotional holding
This isn’t about where it hurts, it’s about where the flow has constricted.
Warnings & Wisdom From Specialists
- Do not use during pregnancy
- Do not ingest unless under guidance
- Do not apply over broken skin
- After use, store the cloth in a sealed container and reuse for up to 1–2 months
And as always: listen to your body. If it says no, trust that. If it says yes, keep going.
