Overcoming Anxiety
I want to start with a topic I quoted from a book I really like. “Stop being afraid of looking stupid by constantly acting stupid! Seek harmony with everyone, never assume the worst in others.”
Anxiety is an imaginary fear that keeps us motionless and causes us to fall behind on many things. It’s the tremor created by a fear that will never actually happen. I’ve started noticing many anxieties that come from my childhood at my age now. I don’t know if they came from the rules of the society I was raised in, from my relatives, or from my family, but one thing I do know is that we can all overcome these anxieties in the NOW.
What is this anxiety? Why does it exist? What is it doing to us? Why do we allow it? It takes time to notice this because it’s been instilled in us since childhood. What I’ve observed in both myself and my surroundings is that being controlling actually increases anxiety. The desire to see and know the future… For example, I would constantly come up with all sorts of imaginary fears like, what if I get sick tomorrow, what if I die tomorrow, what if I lose all my possessions tomorrow, or what if there’s an earthquake tomorrow. Am I getting approval from the community?
This used to happen a lot, especially before going to sleep. This situation started to show itself after my son was born. I didn’t understand what was happening. I couldn’t fall asleep, I was getting palpitations from being excited, and I was sweating cold sweat. My worries were keeping me from sleeping, but they started to slowly get better after a month. Being spontaneous also increases my anxiety. Spontaneous plans, spontaneous decisions… If I’m spontaneous, it feels like I won’t have control, so why wouldn’t we be a little less controlled? This is important!
Since anxiety is a topic I care about a lot, I will write here again by quoting from a book I really like.It says “when you feel anxiety creep in take a step back.Understand how emotions ,thoughts come and go like the wind.Step outside yourself.Fell the pleasantness of the moment.”
And I learned also a component to this method it says ; “Humans are all made for one another.” This is a nice description for social anxiety because if we start from this sentence and begin to see everyone as our brother or sister, there’s no need for anxiety to form, and there won’t be any criticism coming from others either.
“Never assume the worst things. Don’t degrade yourself by placing false criticism in the mind of another because that also degrades them in your own mind.Instead take the eagle’s eye view , separate yourself from negative emotions and seek harmony with yourself and others.”
My effort to get rid of anxiety really changed my life. I really thank my teachers who made space for me to write here.
